Jemima’s desire for breasts has given birth to a grotesque manifestation that hangs from an umbilical cord; the work takes inspiration from Alexander Pope’s poem Rape of the Lock, where Lock depicts a bizarre fantasy world in the Cave of Spleen, where perverted desire turns into reality. The piece considers the current obsession with the perfect body, and how this has idea has infiltrated young children and its effect upon them.
