SPLEEN (2011)

Felt, metal thread, thread, stuffing animal and human hair.
Dimensions:- Height 18cm, Width 11cm, Depth 8cm

The spleen, is historically considered a low status internal organ (compared to the heart and brain), and is traditionally associated with wickedness. In the work, the spleen shaped object is embroidered with high status metal thread to create the appearance of civilisation; however it s not succeeding as its true evil nature with the appearance of coarse, bestial animal hairs growing one side of the piece.
