Uterus blurs the boundary between the inner and outer body by exploring the abject. The piece takes inspiration from Wilhelm Reich’s psychoanalytical research, which divided the human psyche into layers; while the surface layer is our social conscious; Reich believed the middle layer contained aggressive, sexual and sadistic urges. Therefore the porous nature of Uterus, signify the vulnerability the social conscious, while the fluids that leak deep inside the piece embody taboo desires escaping from unconscious thought into reality.
