INNER SELF (2008)
from Hatch Exhibition at Chichester University, May 2008
Materials:- Felt, hand dyed thread, fabric, linen thread, mod roc, latex and stuffing.
Dimensions:- Height 25cm, Width 15cm, Depth 12cm.
Inner Self, explores the hidden personality, and the concealed aggressive desires lying dormant within the unconscious mind. The piece takes inspiration from the Christian concept of a Whitened Sepulchre (a whitened tomb), referring to something evil which is decorated to look innocent. The naive impression suggested by the colourful embroidery, is altered by the addition of teeth, which creates a more disturbing effect.
